My room is finished!

Did I miss it? Where are you placed?! :)

Oh I never said where I was working….I am Merchandise Floater, Downtown Disney Pleasure Island/Westside!

Check-In Day!

Congrats, it’s Check-In Day!!!

I suggest arriving at 6:00am, and park across the street from Vista at the Parking Lot. That parking lot could possibly be filled by 7am. They let us in at 8am, where we walked to the check-in center within Vista Way. I know previous groups ran to check-in, we all just walked over and it was a smooth process.

Part 1:

They start you off in check-in by handing you some housing paper work and you disney college program guide book, and you get a disney name tag sticker (you don’t receive your actual name tag until Traditions).

Part 2:

After that, you move to the next station which is where you meet with a cast member who goes through the housing paper work with you and your housing contract. After he or she, gives you the ok, you fill out your housing paper work. Once completed you will hand off your housing contract to a cast member who is sitting at a table before you enter to choose your housing.

Part 3:

This part you choose your housing…well you choose what is available to you. If you have your roommate and members of your apartment with you, then you will only need one member of your group to speak for the group and you will step off to the side and wait. Once you are given the ok to go, you get your key to the apartment, you take care of your weekly deductions, get your Property ID photo taken, and if you have a car (make sure you have your registration and insurance) you go and get a parking decal.

Part 4:

Before heading to casting, you meet with a Disney Leader who will go over some of the highlights of what you will be doing at casting. Once you finish with your Disney Leader, you get a nice goody bag, then they throw you on the bus to casting.

Part 5:

Welcome to casting. Here you will wait in the casting rotunda, where you will wait to move on to Education. While you are waiting there will be Disney Leaders who will interact with you and give you your work location. After you get your work location, you move on to education, which is short. They just go over what is offered and the open houses. Then you move to I-9, here is where you show your proof as a US Citizen and eligible to work in the United States. After that, you go to banking, they will ask if you want to take out a pre-paid Disney Visa Card or direct deposit (I STRONGLY RECOMMEND DIRECT DEPOSIT, THERE ARE TOO MANY RESTRICTIONS ON THE DISNEY VISA CARD). Then you move to hand-in your pre-boarding paperwork (get this done prior to check-in, IT WILL SPEED THINGS UP). Then you go get finger printed, which was AWESOME. Then you get reviewed for the Disney Look. Afterwards, you go upstairs for your traditions schedule and training schedule, you figure out what shoes and socks you need, then you get a fun photo taken….

AND YOU ARE DONE WITH CHECK-IN!!!!!!!!!!

Helpful tip:

If you plan on applying for the DCP, please keep in mind it’s a working (as in maintaining a job) position. If you want to apply for the DCP and expect a 7 month vacation, you will be in for a rude awakening and I suggest you don’t even apply. You are a full time employee with either the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida or Disneyland Resort in California. With that being said, don’t be afraid to have some fun when you are off the clock and from what I have heard working too can be a fun experience, but go to the parks, explore Florida, do something fun and exciting. Just don’t expect to be all play and no work…because that’s not how it’s going to be.

5 DAYS!

5 DAYS!

hi :) I just read your post about the space bags, do they have vacuums with hoses down there that you can use them when you come home, or do you have to take your own?

I am not sure what they have down in Disney, this is my first time doing the program. Worse comes to worse I can drive to a car wash and use the vacuum hoses there.

Seriously check Big lots for space bags (if you have one nearby). SO. MUCH. CHEAPER.

I went to target already, I don’t think there is a Big Lots near me.
